I go in I the night I travel the same old streets. In my sack, I’ve got the tools Of a Bicycle Thief.......... In the pale of the light, I work under the moon. Shadows long in alley ways The damp Boston streets, the haze just looms. And I’m on the loose, yeah, they’ve never captured me. It’s all been smoke and mirrors, since nineteen fifty-three. I learned my craft in Hollywood, but I always missed the east. I never had ambition, I never learned to listen. That’s why I am a Bicycle Thief. I live alone near the commons, one flight up the stairs. It’s cozy, my little cottage there, nestled in the air. I sleep most of the day As the world goes by outside. Wake up in the afternoon Another cup of coffee to bring me alive. And I’m on the loose, yeah they’ve never captured me. It’s all been smoke and mirrors, since nineteen fifty-three. I learned my craft in Hollywood, but I always missed the east. I never had ambition, I never learned to listen. That’s why I am a Bicycle Thief. I take my methylphenidate. It helps me so to concentrate. Then on the treadmill I climb. I hit the shower and I’m feeling fine. I have to keep myself in shape. I’ve got a great left hook and stealth Switchblade. To any lock I have the key. I know where they place all the CCTV’s. I even change my M.O. from time to time. And I’m on the loose, yeah they’ve never captured me. It’s all been smoke and mirrors, since nineteen fifty-three. I learned my craft in Hollywood, but I always missed the east. I never had ambition, I never learned to listen. That’s why I am a Bicycle Thief. I’ve made a lot of money, never spent too much at all. I never took a bike from anyone, they were always from the stores. Now I’m thinking of retiring maybe to Italy or Spain. There I’ll buy a bicycle so I can stay in shape. I’ll tour around the country roads, meet villagers in local pubs. London, Paris, and Berlin, Oh yeah, and Ireland. Then one day I walked outside and found my lovely bike was gone. And so as I walked alway, I smiled, because of the irony so strong. And I'm on the loose, yeah they've never captured me. It's all been smoke and mirrors, since nineteen fifty-three. I learned my craft in Hollywood, but I always missed the east. I never had ambition, I never learned to listen. That's why I'm a Bicycle Thief....... ©  By DerRan Music, All Rights Reserved (ASCAP)
